Born in Kyoto, Japan, in 1988, En Iwamura grew up in an artistic environment, influenced by both of his parents, who were painters. This early exposure to art helped shape the direction of his future career.
After earning a BFA in crafts from Kanazawa College of Art and Crafts in 2011, Iwamura developed a growing interest in the international art world. He began to explore ceramics as a medium with the potential to communicate across cultural and linguistic boundaries, connecting audiences across different cultures, peoples, and countries through a shared visual language. Pursuing this interest, he continued his education at Kanazawa College of Art and Craft, where he received an MFA in 2013, followed by a second MFA from Clemson University in 2016.
