Alev Ebüzziya Siesbye

Alev Ebüzziya Siesbye, born in Istanbul in 1938, studied sculpture at the Istanbul Academy of Fine Arts between 1956 and 1958. In the early 1960s, she began working with Royal Copenhagen. She is currently based in Paris, where she lives and works.

 

In 2002, Siesbye was the subject of a major retrospective held at both the Turkish and Islamic Arts Museum and the Danish Museum of Decorative Art. She was awarded the title of Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in France in 2009, and Knight of the Dannebrog in Denmark in 2000.

 

Her works are part of the permanent collections of institutions such as the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum in New York, among many others.
